Roundabout is back!
The wonderful yellow dome returns to Salford for the 7th year, as part of our Lowry Beyond season of events outside our building. This time it finds its way to Prince’s Park, Irlam.
A four day extravaganza of new plays, comedy, music and free family and community events, Roundabout will take place from Thu 6 – Sun 9 October.
What is Roundabout?
Created by theatre company Paines Plough, Roundabout is the world’s first pop up, plug and play theatre.
Seating 168 people in-the-round, it flat packs into a lorry and is completely self-contained with state-of-the-art LED lighting and surround sound.
The Lowry partnered with Paines Plough on its landmark Roundabout project in 2015 with the aim of bringing live performance and life-changing experiences direct to Salford communities.
Since 2015 The Lowry has worked in collaboration with communities in Eccles, Little Hulton, Ordsall, Broughton and Swinton to bring Roundabout to their local parks and green spaces. Now it’s Irlam’s turn!

Train
Irlam is easily accessible by train on the Manchester Oxford Road – Liverpool Lime Street train line with regular stopping services on all days. Big Top in the Park is just 10-15 minutes walk from Irlam Station.
We highly recommend The Station, a wonderful café bar and heritage hub located in the old train station building. Pay them a visit on your way to or from a show!

Bus
The 67 and 100 bus services, operated by Go North West, both run past the Big Top in the Park site. Use the Lathom Rd or Broadway stops to alight. You’ll find us in the field just behind Irlam Skatepark.

Car
Our recommended site for car parking is the Tesco Extra Supermarket in Irlam (Liverpool Road, M44 6BL) – please park in the area nearest the park site.
There will be some limited spaces available for Blue Badge Holders at Irlam and Cadishead Leisure Centre, next to the site.
